can you help me with my question the motherboard is a asus m4a785td-m evo, and i have installed the latest bios revision 1.1 (the one that fixes the chipset/cpu instability that was discovered in version 1.0). the graphics card is a evga geforce 8800 gs, with a dvi-vga adapter. there is also an extra internal dvd drive, that is not being used. thanks chris
after bios update i was able to create a bootable usb stick but when i went to install it the system froze. i have an msi motherboard with an amd athlon ii x2 250 processor. my system had windows xp home installed. i reformatted and re-installed ubuntu 10.10. i ran the update from update manager and when i went to reboot i was presented with the option to boot the flash drive i had just created.
thanks for the quick reply. unfortunately, i have the exact same problem. with the same motherboard and bios update, i am able to create a bootable usb but when i try to install it i get the \"there was a problem while installing\" error. i can't find any other answers online. i am running ubuntu 10.10 32bit. can anyone help me please
that's what i was looking for, thanks! to make the jump to ahci without a problem you need to either a) do an upgrade, b) add a floppy disk with the exe file and boot, c) wait and hope your bios defaults to ahci, d) read your manual.
